Fire Danger Risk High Today In New Jersey And Eastern Pennsylvania

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather statement for today warning of an elevated risk of forest fires and wildfires.

There has been no rain for the past week and very low humidity levels hovering around 15 percent this afternoon, the NWS said on its website. North winds will be gusty at around 20 miles an hour for a portion of the day, until they shift to a southeast sea breeze in New Jersey this afternoon. The southeast breeze will approach the Route 95 corridor by 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. tonight.

"Be very careful with the disposal of any smoking materials," the NWS says.

The National Weather Service has issued a number of fire danger watches and warnings over the past several days.
